AFFILIATION AND COURSE OF STUDY

This school follows the education pattern set by the council for the Indian school Certificate Examination, New Delhi. The University of Cambridge Local Examination syndicate with the assistance of Interstate for Anglo- Indian Education established the Council for the Indians school Certificate Examination in 1958. In 1973 the Govt. of India recognized the Council as a body to conduct Public Examinations in India through an act of the Parliament and the council is appointed as one of the Indian Examination bodies. Indian Certificates of Secondary Education (ICSE) is recognized by all the education boards in the country and by many overseas too. Moreover, SACRED HEART CONVENT SEN. SEC. SCHOOL, Thakkarpura, Patti is a co-educational school affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) New Delhi. It is an English medium school. The school prepares students for the Indian Certificate of secondary Education (ICSE), from the nursery classes up to 10th and every student is required to take the following subjects as course of study:

5)Science( Physics, Chemistry, Biology)
6) History ,Civics, Geography
7) Physical Education/ Computer Science
8) Socially Useful Productive Work and Community Service

ICSE pass certificate will be awarded to candidates who attain the pass mark for all subjects. However, it is compulsory to secure a pass grade in Socially Useful Productive Work (S.U.P.W.). The ISC course builds on the general Education to prove specialization in science and commerce. The ISC encourages students to experience the out of box learning process which will enhance their life skills. ISC syllabus prepares the students to successfully blend with the competitive world with their skills both analytical and decision making. It also provides a platform to explore the global learning system. Depending on their interest the pupils can choose the streams. Every stream will equip them with the world class learning and in depth knowledge of the chosen subject

COMMERCE STREAM

1. AEC- Accounts, Economics, Commerce
2. MEC- Mathematics, Economics, Commerce.


ATTENDANCE

A Minimum of 75% of attendance of the total working days during each of the two years course is essential. Candidates whose attendance is below 75% of working days are ordinarily not eligible to appear for the examination.


TEST AND EXAMINATION

Periodic tests and examinations will be conducted. Promotion from class XI to class XII is done on the basis of cumulative achievement level of the students throughout the year in the subjects he/ she has been registered for. For promotions a candidate is required to have obtained at least 40% of marks in the subjects he/ she has chosen.


MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION

The medium of instruction is English and the method of study is in accordance with the scheme laid down by the Council ( CISCE) for the Primary, Secondary and the Higher Secondary stages approved by the Council. Special importance is given to English, including spoken English, for which a high standard is maintained. Hindi as the national language and Punjabi as the regional language are taught from Pre-Primary level with priority.
